OMG, you people, stop going to those schools of hard knocks! And watch some actual news for once. Every morning, I listen to NPR News. They have this podcast with 5-minute news segments covering the day's big news. 5 minutes! I listen to it when I brush my teeth and wash my face.

Basically, Cambridge Analytica was collecting user information via Facebook and sold the information for political advertising.

Your information is already readily available to anyone who is willing to pay for it.

If Chinese government care about what kind of porn you watch or what kind of rage bait video you “like,” or what product you purchased on Amazon, or what advertising that causes you to pause your scrolling for 3 seconds, they don’t need to make a billion-dollar platform and host all your data in Texas to gather that information. They can buy them from Meta.

It’s not that hard, start from there.

If you’re on a free social platform, Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube, or whatever, and you’re using their platform and services FOR FREE, you are the product. Your information and engagement IS the product. Your information is already in the market freely available to whoever willing to pay.
